Now you've all heard of the Gang That Sang Heart Of My Heart. Well,
my chums and I grew up one block away, and the Heart Gang, they could
sing all right, but our street gang, we sang better. We were known
throughout the city then, sometimes we were called "The Gang That
Sang Scarlet Ribbons", sometimes "The Gang That Sang Nora" but mostly
they called us "The Gang That Got Beat Up By The Gang That Sang Heart
Of My Heart".

We were rough & ready guys, but oh how we were terrorized...
"Heart of My Heart", we feared that melody,
our tormentors sang as they moved onto our street.
We'd run like hell but they'd run faster,
give us wedgies, break our glasses.
"Heart of My Heart", meant trouble on the way,
"Heart of My Heart" still frightens me today.
They di'n't sing near as well,
but they sure gave us hell,
the hooligans that sang Heart Of My Heart.
We'd run, but out of luck,
we'd always get beat up
by the Gang That Sang Heart of My Heart.
