                                           D F# Bm Bm G ( Em7 A7 ) D D
         G ( G A )
When you told me you'd be leavin' I couldn'even reply,
      Bm7 A
so we knew there'd be some issues once I kissed you goodbye,
       Bm7 ( Bm7 G ) A A
issues I could not face up to, I'd deny
         G ( A Bm )
'til the judge said "We're concerned you haven't learned to stay away.
         G A
Think it over on the county with a twenty-day stay,
        Em7 ( Em7 G ) A A
or else seek addiction treatment, either way."

       G ( G A )
So I show up at the meetin' Monday evenin' each week
       G ( G A )
an I stand up an' I tell 'em when it's my turn to speak:

       D ( Em7 A7 ) D Bm7
My mind is set, I'm gettin' through recovery -
      D ( Em7 E7 ) A A
I just won't let obsession get the better of me.
            G A
An' I'm doin' pretty well, can't you tell?
      Bm G
I ain't got far to go, don't you know?
      Em ( Em E7 ) D6
I ain't there yet, there's just another dozen to do
       G ( Em7 A7 ) D D
in my twelve-step recovery from lovin' you.

When everything that mattered much was shattered apart,
I could never bear to take a look an' make a new start,
my pretendin' was protection for my heart.
But I got me group support an' now I'm startin' step one.
I'll be deep in number two before I've truly begun.
By the time I've done a dozen, I'll be done!

So I stand up ev'ry meetin' Monday evenin' an' say,
that I promise I'll be kickin' this addiction some day.

And you can bet I'm gettin' through recovery -
No way I'll let obsession get the better of me.
An' I'm doin' pretty well, can't you tell?
I ain't got far to go, don't you know?
I ain't there yet, there's just another dozen to do
in my twelve-step recovery from lovin' you.
                                                          D
        G ( G A )
Now I show up at the meetin' Monday evenin' each week
       G ( G A )
an I stand up an' I tell 'em when it's my turn to speak:
      D F# Bm
I ain't there yet, there's just another dozen to do
       G ( Em7 A7 ) D D
in my twelve-step recovery from lovin' you.
